Software simulation enables predicting performance prior to hardware prototype. As a result, the tools can be used early in the planning state of product development to filter preliminary design concepts. Simulation can also be used to predict performance of products where it is difficult to make experimental measurements.
In addition, simulation software can be used to visualize invisible fluid flow and heat transfer. This results in increased engineering understanding while providing a vehicle for communicating this knowledge to non-experts.
SC/Tetra is unstructured grid Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software that is used in many industries to simulate thermal-fluid phenomena. Some of these industries include automotive, turbo-machinery, chemical and others where highly accurate geometrical representation is critical to the design solution.
Version 11 provides a new [Modify solid] toolbox, which enables solid shape modifications of CAD data as a standard function of the SC/Tetra preprocessor.
Version 11 solver features a new liquid film model. This model, along with the existing particle tracking function, helps simulate droplets spattering to a wall and turning into a liquid film.
Version 11 also offers ever-improving visualization schemes of the simulation results. One of these is the [Moving arrows] function, which enables analysts to understand complex three-dimensional flow patterns at a glance.

HeatDesigner is a version of scSTREAM specializing in thermal design for electronics.
Version 11 enables simulating electronics in more detail with its new ElectronicPartsMaker. This utility tool allows creation of a model of SOP (Small Outline Package) or QFP (Quad Flat Package) and can be saved as a library file in the scSTREAM/HeatDesigner preprocessor.
Version 11 features a cut-cell solver for flow analysis. The cut-cell solver enables simulation of curved objects while using a structured grid.
