Solid Edge Wire Harness Design is a module for efficient creation, laying and organization of wires, cables and harnesses in Solid Edge assemblies. It provides the joint work of mechanical engineers and electricians on projects and the creation of complete and accurate digital models containing both mechanical and electrical parts and assemblies, which eliminates the need for manufacturing expensive prototypes.

Errors in the design, for example, exceeding the allowable diameter of the wiring harness or the too small radius of its fold, are continuously monitored as it is being designed, and the designer is immediately informed of all the problems identified. During the posting of the posting, reports are generated with the length of each cable (taking into account the sagging and the stock for the stripping of the ends) and its parameters. Export ready-to-use file connection tables containing mechanical characteristics of cables, allows you to create sets of design documentation, ready for transfer to production.

Automated laying of cable harnesses
After electrical engineers have developed the circuit and tested it on a prototype (this task is becoming increasingly important with increasing scale and complexity of electrical systems), mechanical engineers with the help of a cable wizard automatically create routes for laying cables and wires. The wizard loads data from specialized circuit design systems such as Mentor Graphics, Cimteam and Vesys, and automatically transfers the connection table and the parts list to Solid Edge.
