Mentor Graphics, a technology leader in electronic design automation providing products, consulting services and award-winning support for the world’s leading electronics and semiconductor companies, announced the release of PADS VX, is the industry-leading, high-productivity, PCB-centric design solution for independent engineers.

The PADS VX release is a significant milestone for the PADS product line. PADS joins the Mentor Graphics PCB VX platform, delivering unparalleled integration between schematic design and layout. A Central Library and a spreadsheet based constraint editing systemand new library tools arealso new in this release. In addition, the Land Pattern Creator is now delivered with every PADS configuration, allowing the quick parametric definition of new footprints.

New archive management capabilities are availablethat allow the generation, search, viewing, and comparisons of archives.The PADS VX release also providesaccess to a new starter library with PADS parts and footprints, along with xDX Designer symbols.

xDX Designer in the PADS VX release has been enhanced in the areas of usability and productivity. Many of these enhancements have been driven by you, our customers, from Mentor Ideas.

The PADS VX.1 release adds additional features and functionality. xAVE Design Archive is enhanced with the support of EDX. EDX is a robust standard format for the exchange of library, component and design data. PADS Layout has been enhanced with additional features to support integrated projects, as well as updated translators. xDX Designer and HyperLynx have received updates. Lastly, menu additionswhichintegrate withthe separatePartQuest website have beenintroduced in this release. PartQuestis a new website that allows engineers to search component supplier websites (initially Digi-Key) for parts to add to your designs. Many of these parts have been populated with schematic symbols and footprints that can be downloaded to your xDX Designer and PADS Layout libraries
